Can you think of an industry that is more complex and challenging to follow than Healthcare?
I’m sure there are the exceptions but working in healthcare is no walk in the park. It is the responsibility of providers, patients, lawmakers, and industry leaders to follow through in crafting the ideal healthcare we long to receive and deliver.
But what happens when the industry falls short on improving patient satisfaction? Or healthcare costs aren’t being contained and the overall health of the population is deteriorating?
An increase in the use of healthcare consultants in the industry has been seen through the years to alleviate many of these issues. Some might be curious, what cases and problems can healthcare consultants handle? The answer is everything. Okay, not exactly everything. But, for the most part, healthcare providers can rely on consultants to tackle even the most difficult challenges.
Martin Luther King Jr. community hospital in South Los Angeles admits to using skilled consultants when they were reopening the hospital in 2015. Following its closure in 2007, the new L.A community hospital is now leading the industry in technological advances all with the help of knowledgeable consultants. Incorporating technology into all aspects of the facility allows staff to focus on quality improvement and reduce readmission rates. The local community hospital shows massive improvement in the care they deliver; from having 125 survey deficiencies in 2007 to only having 2 deficiencies in 2016.
Another example occurred following the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Many healthcare providers were scrambling to their feet in order to keep up with the new regulations. While the industry leaders were competent enough to handle the new changes, extra minds and hands were needed to take on the task in its entirety. Sometimes, all that is needed is support. It is a sense of security to have an extra person to fall back on during times of immense pressure or need for guidance. Having an expert at your side almost always ensures everything will run smoothly. With technological advances and the midterm elections coming up, we can expect more healthcare providers seeking the support of expert consultants to help in navigating the turn of events that we might be expecting in the upcoming years.
The future of healthcare is becoming more unpredictable than ever and as industry leaders, it is important to be prepared.
